Terrance Ferguson has committed to Alabama, he announced on Monday.

“I am proud to announce that I will be furthering my education and basketball career at The University of Alabama,” he wrote on twitter.

Ferguson is a 6-foot-6 wing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, that has played for Prime Prep the past three years. A five-star prospect ranked No. 11 in the class, according to Rivals, Ferguson has a reputation for being one of the best shooters in all of high school basketball. He’s an elite athlete that has played for Team USA at multiple levels throughout high school. He needs to add some strength to his frame at some point, but players with his size, athleticism and shooting ability are hard to come by.

Ferguson visited the Tuscaloosa campus two weeks ago. He picked the Crimson Tide over Kansas, who was long-considered the leader for Ferguson. The connection between a kid from Oklahoma who went to high school in Texas is his AAU program. Ferguson played for MWA Elite, a program run by former Alabama star and current NBA player Mo Williams.

This is the second five-star commitment in the span of two days for the state of Alabama, as top 25 recruit Mustapha Heron made his pledge to Auburn on Sunday. The two commitments have continued a trend, as the SEC continues to get stronger on the recruiting trail. Last season, it was LSU landing talents like Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney, while Mississippi State brought in Malik Newman. Throw in the addition of coaches like Ben Howland, Rick Barnes, Bruce Pearl and Johnson, and the grip Kentucky has on the conference is not as strong as it was two years ago.
