Florida landed a premier perimeter defender in the Class of 2016 with the commitment of guard Eric Hester on Friday. The 6-foot-4 Hester is currently regarded as the No. 89 overall prospect in the Rivals national rankings and the in-state guard is a solid start for new Florida head coach Mike White in his 2016 recruiting efforts.

Hester can play a bit of both guard spots and he’s an absolute menace as an on-the-ball defender. Although he’ll need to refine his offensive skill set, Hester has a lot of athleticism and he’s already very good as an open-court player. Florida landing Hester also taps into the Team Breakdown pipeline, as they’ve been a very successful program at producing high-major players in the state of Florida.
