Shawntrez Davis will begin his collegiate career in the junior college ranks.

The 6-foot-8 power forward, who has been committed to Texas Tech since May 21 will attend Palm Beach State College (Florida), Jeff Borzello of ESPN reported on Tuesday afternoon. It was reported on July 17 that Davis failed to get the ACT score needed to qualify for the 2015-16 season.

Texas Tech’s incoming recruiting class consists of junior college point Devon Thomas, who began his career at Missouri State, small forward C.J. Williamson Jr. and guard Jordan Jackson, son of four-time WNBA champion and three-time WNBA MVP Sheryl Swoops.

Rising sophomores Norense Odiase, Zach Smith and Isaiah Manderson all averaged 14.0 or more minutes per game for the Red Raiders last season and will anchor the frontline this upcoming season.

Davis, who will spend two seasons at Palm Beach State according to Borzello, was listed by Rivals as a three-star recruit.
