Murray State received a bit of good news on Tuesday afternoon, as the NCAA approved a waiver for Texas transfer Damarcus Croaker to be eligible immediately.

Croaker played limited minutes for Texas for three semesters before transferring to become a part of the Racer program last December. He was a three-star guard coming out of high school.

“I am very happy for Damarcus and his family,” Head Coach Matt McMahon said. “We’re thankful that the NCAA has supported Damarcus’ waiver for immediate eligibility and we look forward to him joining us on our exhibition trip to Canada next month.”

The addition of Croaker is big for McMahon, who is replacing Steve Prohm as the head coach of the program. The Racers are not only losing their head coach, but they lost their top three scorers and four starters from last season, including a lottery pick in Cameron Payne.
