Having lost some pieces to its front court this spring, Providence was in the market for another player who can help the program moving forward. Saturday the Friars landed a commitment from former George Mason wing Isaiah Jackson, who was granted a release from his scholarship by the Atlantic 10 program in mid-May.

Jackson announced his decision on Twitter, and he’ll have three seasons to play after sitting out the 2015-16 campaign.

The 6-foot-6 Jackson was a productive player for the Patriots last season, averaging 8.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest. He started 23 of the 31 games in which he played, and Jackson scored in double figures in ten of George Mason’s last 11 games with two being 18-point outings against Saint Louis and Fordham.

Jackson is Providence’s fifth newcomer in this particular cycle, joining freshmen Drew Edwards, Ricky Council, Ryan Fazekas and Quadree Smith.
