Michigan State guard Eron Harris has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest for driving while intoxicated, according to the Lansing State Journal.

According to Graham Couch of the Lansing State Journal, Harris, the redshirt junior guard, was arrested at 1:55 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1. He is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a breath test. The misdemeanor comes with jail time and a $500 fine.

“Actions have consequences, and Eron must face those consequences in the legal system, in the court of public opinion, and within the program,” Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo told the Lansing State Journal. “Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken as the legal system runs its course.”

Harris has been pegged as one of the top impact transfers for this upcoming season. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 17.2 points per game at West Virginia during the 2013-14 season. He sat out this past year due to NCAA transfer rules.

Harris has an arraignment scheduled for Friday, July 17.

Michigan State is coming off a trip to the Final Four. Despite the loss of Travis Trice and Branden Dawson, Harris playing alongside Tum Tum Nairn and Denzel Valentine put the Spartans in a position to contend atop the Big Ten standings with Maryland heading into the 2015-16 season.
