Old Dominion has suspended forward Javonte Douglas indefinitely following an arrest earlier this month.

Douglas was arrested on June 7th for an incident that took place on June 5th and was charged with statutory burglary for unlawfully entering a dwelling, a felony, and misdemeanor assault and battery, a misdemeanor. Douglas reportedly “walked into a house on [...] without knocking. He was looking for an acquaintance when he was confronted by an ODU student who lives at the house. Douglas responded by punching the student, leaving a deep cut to the upper lip,” according to the Virginian Pilot.

“I was made aware of an incident on June 5 by the ODU campus police involving Javonte Douglas,” head coach Jeff Jones said in a statement. “We suspended Javonte on June 7 from all basketball team activities and are monitoring his situation very closely.”

Douglas is a rising senior that transferred into Old Dominion from the College of Central Florida. He averaged just 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds this season, but he played a major role as the Monarchs made a run to the NIT semifinals. Douglas is best known for being a viral sensation, throwing down this ridiculous dunk back in 2013.
