Virginia Tech is losing a reserve guard as the school announced on Friday that Malik Muller will transfer. The 6-foot-3 native of Germany averaged 20 minutes per game for the Hokies last season and he’ll seek a fresh start elsewhere.

“Malik and I had multiple discussions about his future over the past several weeks, and he has decided it is best to finish his career elsewhere,” head coach Buzz Williams said in the release. “Malik is a great person, and we are thankful for how he represented the Hokies on and off the floor during his tenure here. We wish him well in all of his future endeavors.”

Muller averaged 6.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for Virginia Tech last season while starting 20 games. He’ll have to sit out next season before starting his career elsewhere. Shooting 39 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range, Muller can space the floor a little bit.
