Rick isn’t the only Pitino that landed himself a contract extension week.

According to reports out of Minnesota, Richard Pitino has also earned himself an extension and a raise. The younger Pitino will get a $400,000 raise, boosting his annual income to $1.6 million, and is expected to have two more years added to his contract, extending him through the 2021 season.

Pitino has gone 43-28 in his two seasons in Minnesota, notching just a 14-22 record in Big Ten play. But he’s only 32 years old and he won the NIT in his first season with the Golden Gophers, and when you’re that young with that last name, you’re a hot commodity. He also was linked to a number of job openings earlier this spring -- including Alabama and Florida.

The Gophers, who are coming off of a 10th place finish in the Big Ten, will lose their top two scorers as well as their starting back court.
