The 6-foot-7 Baxter attends Timpview High School in Provo, Utah and is regarded as the No. 86 overall prospect in the 2016 class, according to Rivals. The four-star prospect is a nice grab for BYU, and he represents their first commitment in the class.

Playing with the Utah Prospects this spring, Baxter averaged 9.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game over eight games while shooting 55 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line. Baxter will have to work more on his perimeter jumper, as he was only 19 percent (5-for-18) in the spring.
