Indiana added a graduate transfer big man on Tuesday as former Michigan forward Max Bielfeldt committed to the Hoosiers.

The 6-foot-7 forward announced his decision on Twitter.

Bielfeldt gives Indiana another big man after the departure of former starting center Hanner Mosquera-Perea this spring and he was a reserve for Michigan last season. During the 2014-15 season, Bielfeldt averaged 14.5 minutes per game and posted averages of 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. The forward shot 48 percent from the field, 68 percent from the free-throw line and 26 percent from the 3-point line.

The Hoosiers will likely start McDonald’s All-American Thomas Bryant down low next season, but Bielfeldt gives them an experienced reserve with some Big Ten experience. Freshman forwards Juwan Morgan and O.G. Anunoby also join the Hoosier roster next season and Troy Williams also returns for his junior season.

Indiana landed Bielfeldt after he also considered Iowa State and Nebraska for his final season. Bielfeldt was able to transfer within the Big Ten after winning an appeal that allowed him to do so.
