Shaqquan Aaron is transferring to USC, a source confirmed to NBCSports.com. Aaron, a former top 50 recruit from Rainier Beach HS in Seattle, picked the Trojans over San Diego State.

Aaron will have to sit out the 2015-16 season. He’ll have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Scout.com was the first to report the news.

Aaron spent this past season playing for Louisville, but the season did not go as planned. He was forced to sit out the first nine games of the season due to the NCAA determining that Aaron had received impermissable benefits in high school.

When he finally did get eligible, Aaron struggled to find a role in Rick Pitino’s rotation. He struggled defensively, he couldn’t add any weight to his 175 pound, 6-foot-7 frame and he shot just 26 percent from the floor. He played more than 20 minutes in a game just twice and scored more than six points just once.

Aaron finished his high school career in Seattle, but his family is originally from Southern California.
