Maverick Rowan is one of the best pure scorers in all of high school basketball and he’s weighing his options for next season, according to a report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The No. 42 overall prospect in the country, according to Rivals, Rowan has spent this spring playing on the grassroots circuit with Ohio Basketball Club and Each 1 Teach 1 and put up good numbers against strong competition. Now, the 6-foot-5 Rowan has a chance to either enter college or stay in high school.
After starting his high school basketball career in Pittsburgh, Rowan and his family moved to Florida so he could attend Cardinal Gibbons High School and play stronger competition. Moving back to Pittsburgh and playing his senior season is also an option.
But playing college basketball next season is also in play. According to his father, Rowan has 10 days to decide if he wants to enroll in two summer classes that would take him to college to play the 2015-16 season.
From the report from Mark White:
Rowan took an official visit to Louisville during March and is also interested in North Carolina, N.C. State, Wisconsin, UCLA, Pitt and West Virginia, according to White’s story. A one-time commitment to Pitt, Rowan could make an impact as a scorer next season since he can score in so many ways from all three levels.
In EYBL play this spring, Rowan averaged 19.2 points per game and shot 51 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 73 percent from the free-throw line.
