One day after former Liberty power forward Tomasz Gielo announced that he’d play his final season of college basketball at Ole Miss, the Rebels took a hit to their front court depth.

6-foot-9 center Dwight Coleby, a reserve big man on last season’s team, announced via Twitter Tuesday night that he’s decided to transfer from Ole Miss. Coleby started just three games in 2014-15, playing 16.5 minutes per contest and posting averages of 5.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

With Coleby moving on head coach Andy Kennedy will need to account for the loss of two of his top four rebounders from last season. In addition to Coleby, Ole Miss loses leading rebounder M.J. Rhett. Rhett, who was eligible immediately as a graduate student after making the move from Middle Tennessee, grabbed 4.6 rebounds per contest last season.

The good news for Ole Miss is that they return their top two rebounders in forward Sebastian Saiz (5.5 rpg) and Martavious Newby (5.4 rpg). But even with that being the case, the loss of a player in Coleby who stood to see an increase in minutes means that the addition of Gielo is of even greater importance than it was before.

Gielo averaged 12.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game at Liberty in 2014-15, playing in just seven games because of a non-surgical stress fracture in his right foot.

“Tomasz is an athletic, 6-9 forward, who adds versatility to our frontcourt,” Kennedy said in the release announcing the addition of Gielo. “His offensive capabilities give us the ability to run offense through him because of his skill set and high basketball intelligence. Tomasz will, undoubtedly, have an immediate impact on Rebel Basketball.”
