Minnesota and Class of 2015 three-star big man Jonathan Nwankwo have parted ways, a source confirmed to NBCSports.com. The news was first reported by Alex Kline.
The 6-foot-9 Nwankwo is now free from his letter of intent and could get some interest with the lack of quality big men available. During the recruiting process, Nwankwo also took official visits to Rice, Temple and Tennessee.
Even with the loss of Nwankwo, the Golden Gophers still have a five-man recruiting class that includes guards Kevin Dorsey, Jarvis Johnson and Dupree McBrayer and wings Ahmad Gilbert and Jordan Murphy.
