Two weeks after he made the decision to de-commit from SMU and reopen his recruitment, 2016 shooting guard LaGerald Vick has picked a new school.

According to multiple outlets the Memphis native committed to Kansas on Sunday. In the aftermath of his de-commitment Vick took visits at Kansas State and Kansas, and he was scheduled for a visit to Kentucky beginning on Sunday. Just two days ago Vick received a scholarship offer from Kentucky, but it’s Kansas who gets the 6-foot-5 guard in the end.

Vick is Kansas’ first commitment in the Class of 2016, and his grassroots coach told Rivals.com that head coach Bill Self made Vick a priority.

Vick’s summer coach, Norton Hurd of Team Thad, broke down the commitment.

“I don’t know if it was so much the visit, but things have gone fast over this short time and coach Self has made him a priority,” Hurd told Rivals.com. “He really feels like he can do good things under the coaching staff.”

The question now is whether Vick remains in the Class of 2016 or moves back into the Class of 2015, thus joining talented big men Carlton Bragg and Cheick Diallo. According to Eric Bossi of Rivals.com, a decision could be made on that front within the next two to three weeks.

When Vick committed to SMU last October, he did so with the plan of attending prep school before joining the program in 2016.
