VCU added to its Class of 2015 recruiting haul late this week as the Rams received a commitment from junior college big man Ahmed Hamdy Mohamed.

A former Houston signee, the 6-foot-9 Mohamed spent this past season at Lee College in Texas and averaged 16.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game while shooting 54 percent from the field.

Mohamed’s addition should help stabilize a front-court rotation that returns Mo Alie-Cox next season. After redshirting a season at Houston, Mohamed has at least two years of eligibility left and could have three years left if he gets a waiver from the NCAA.

Adding a rebounder of Mohamed’s caliber is a nice spring addition for head coach Will Wade, as he has also picked up Oral Roberts graduate transfer Korey Billbury for next season.
