While West Virginia returns the majority of its front court from last year’s Sweet 16 team, it never hurts to add another body to the mix. Wednesday night the Mountaineers received a commitment from three-star combo forward Lamont West, who attends at Miller Grove HS in Lithonia, Georgia.

The 6-foot-7 West made the decision after taking a visit to West Virginia, and he held offers from programs such as Arkansas, Cincinnati and St. John’s. Versatility is one of West’s strong suits, and that could serve him well in West Virginia’s pressure system.

He’s the fourth commitment in the Class of 2015 for head coach Bob Huggins, joining fellow freshmen James “Beetle” Bolden and Esa Ahmad and junior college transfer Teyvon Myers.

As for the front court, West and Ahmad won’t lack for competition when it comes to minutes in 2015-16. Jonathan Holton returns for his senior season, with Devin Williams and Nathan Adrian being juniors and Elijah Macon entering his sophomore season. That competition should help the newcomers as they get acclimated to the West Virginia system on both ends of the floor.
