Coming off of back-to-back Final Four appearances, Wisconsin is re-loading with a five-man recruiting class in 2015 as the Badgers added 6-foot-11 Belgian forward Andy Van Vliet on Monday afternoon. Van Vliet confirmed his pledge to Wisconsin on Twitter.

During the recruiting process, Van Vliet also took official visits with Oklahoma State, St. Mary’s and Washington State, according to Benjamin Worgull of Wisconsin’s Scout.com site.

The latest Wisconsin commitment played professionally for the Antwerp Giants in Belgium and is 19 years old. He mostly played on the “B” team as an amateur and scrimmaged against the main team.

Van Vliet (pronounced “Fleet”) is the fifth member of Wisconsin’s 2015 recruiting class, joining in-state guard Brevin Pritzel, and forwards Alex Illikainen, Khalil Iverson and Charlie Thomas.

The lefty forward is a big man with 3-point range, as seen in this highlight video. That could help offset the loss of Frank Kaminsky. Even if Van Vliet only plays in limited minutes, he’s the kind of floor-spacing big man that Wisconsin needs.
