The Horizon League will be changing the structure of their conference tournament, according to a report from the Detroit Free-Press.

The current structure of the event is to hold the early rounds at campus sites with the semifinals and finals being hosted by the highest remaining seed. If all were to go to plan, the tournament would be anchored in Detroit for the next five seasons, with Joe Louis Arena and the new Red Wings Arena both hosting the event.

The Horizon League commissioner, Jon LeCrone, could not officially comment on the move, but he did tell the Free-Press that discussions are advanced and that they are “excited” about the prospect of moving the tournament to the Motor City.
