Two of the top forwards in the Class of 2016 currently attends Chaminade HS in St. Louis, Missouri and play for the St. Louis Eagles grassroots program in Jayson Tatum and Tyler Cook. With Tatum having trimmed his list of schools down to four quite some time ago, Cook cut his list to six on Wednesday.

Cook released the list via Twitter, with Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri and Virginia being the remaining schools. The 6-foot-8 Cook is a four-star prospect who’s ranked 79th in the country by Rivals.com.

The most interesting of the six schools on the list may be Florida, as the program is without a head coach with Billy Donovan moving on to take over the Oklahoma City Thunder. With athletic director Jeremy Foley saying that it may be until “sometime in June” that he hires Donovan’s replacement, who will be running the Florida program and how he fits into that coach’s plans are questions Cook doesn’t have the answer to right now.

But as a 2016 prospect he has time to assess all the factors that go into a college decision. Three of the six schools on Cook’s list are SEC programs, and he’s a critical recruit for a Missouri program coming off of a rough debut season for head coach Kim Anderson.

Multiple disciplinary issues and departures were factors in the Tigers winning just nine games last season, and a commitment from a talented recruit the caliber of Cook could help turn things around within the state. But they’ll have plenty of competition for Cook in the weeks and months to come.
