V.J. King announced on Thursday that he has cut his list to five schools: Arizona, UConn, Louisville, Virginia and Kentucky.
King is the No. 11 player in the Class of 2016, according to Rivals. A 6-foot-7 wing, King plays his high school and AAU basketball for programs in the D.C. area. King is originally from Ohio and initially played his high school ball for St. Vincent-St. Mary’s, the high school known for producing LeBron James.
Right now, King has all the tools to make him an intriguing long-term prospect as a wing. He’s rangy, he’s athletic and he plays on the wing as a 6-foot-7 forward. But he’s a beanpole — listed at 175 pounds — and still learning how to play the game. His shot selection is not great, he can struggle beating people off the bounce and he can be inconsistent shooting from the perimeter, although his jumper is his best weapon in a half court setting right now.
