Iowa State picked up its first commitment in the Class of 2015 on Sunday, as top 100 prospect Nick Noskowiak committed to Iowa State. News of his commitment was first reported by the Ames Tribune. Noskowiak, who was originally a Marquette commit before being granted a release from his National Letter of Intent in February, made his decision on the heels of a visit to Iowa State this weekend.

While the 6-foot-2 Noskowiak is the first incoming freshman to commit to Fred Hoiberg’s program in the class, he isn’t the first addition the Cyclones have made this spring. Nick Babb, who began his career at Arkansas and is the younger brother of former Iowa State guard Chris Babb, transferred to Iowa State earlier this month and will sit out the 2015-16 season per NCAA transfer rules.

With Iowa State returning one of the nation’s best point guards in Monté Morris, Noskowiak adds depth to a position that lacked a surefire backup heading into the summer. Morris started all 34 games he played in last season and averaged nearly 34 minutes per game, accounting for 11.9 points and 5.2 assists per contest.

And while Noskowiak is certainly a good pickup for Iowa State, they aren’t done looking for players as they still have two available scholarships for next season. Also on campus this weekend were forwards Tyler Harris and Max Bielfeldt, with both being graduate students who would be eligible immediately at the school of their choice.
