Virginia Tech’s leading scorer from this past season will now become a conference opponent, as Adam Smith has elected to use his last year of eligibility at Georgia Tech.

The news was first reported by Jeff Goodman of ESPN. Smith is graduating, which means he is eligible to play next season for the Yellow Jackets.

The 6-foot-1 Smith led the Hokies in scoring at 13.4 points per game, shooting 42 percent from the beyond the 3-point line. He announced he would transfer on March 26. Smith joins three-star center Sylvester Ogbonda in Brian Gregory’s incoming class. Former Alabama forward Nick Jacobs is also eligible this year after sitting out the 2014-15 campaign.

The Yellow Jackets also bring back rising seniors Marcus George-Hunt and Charles Mitchell, the team’s top two scorers.

Smith began his career at UNC Wilmington.
