For two years now, Kevin Ollie’s names has been one that pops up whenever anyone is discussing who the Oklahoma City Thunder will hire should they need to replace Scott Brooks.

Durant has been very public in his praise and admiration for Ollie, a former teammate with the Thunder. And if you’re a basketball coach, and you’re given the opportunity to coach Durant and Russell Westbrook, it’s very difficult to say no.

So you can understand why UConn fans are going to be nervous every time a respected NBA reporter tosses out Ollie’s name.

And that’s why Ollie released the statement he did on Wednesday morning.

“As I have said many times, I am proud and honored to be the head basketball coach at the University of Connecticut and I have no plans to pursue other opportunities,” Ollie said. “We are already excited about next season and I am looking forward to preparing our team to be the best we can be on the court, in the classroom and in our community.”

We’ll see if that quiets the rumors.
