On Wednesday, N.C. State announced that Trevor Lacey intends to declare for the NBA Draft.

“I would like to thank the coaching staff, university and fans for a wonderful experience the last two years at NC State, but I’d like to declare for the NBA Draft,” Lacey said. “I had a great group of teammates the last two years and they’ll always be like brothers to me. This has been the toughest decision of my life but I feel like pursuing this new journey in my basketball career is what is best for me.”

Lacey averaged 15.7 points, 4.6 boards and 3.5 assists for the Wolfpack this past season, and while he was one of the ACC’s best one-on-one scorers, Lacey is a second round pick at best and could very well end up going undrafted.

Lacey sat out the 2013-14 season in Raleigh after transferring into the program from Alabama.

Per a source, Lacey will not be signing with an agent right away, giving him a chance to “test the waters”, so to speak. The NCAA deadline to officially withdraw his name from the draft was April 14th, while the NBA’s deadline to put his NBA into the draft in April 26th. He’ll have a week and a half to decide whether he’s going to put his name into the mix, but once he does, his college eligibility will be over.
