VCU announced on Tuesday that they will hire former assistant coach Will Wade to replace Shaka Smart.

A press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Wade was with the Ram program from 2009-13, when he took over the Chattanooga program, where he led the Mocs to a pair of winning seasons. They went 22-10 in 2014-15, finishing 15-3 in SoCon play.

Wade, who is just 32 years old, was a member of Smart’s staff for four postseason appearances, including the 2011 Final Four run. Smart announced that he would be leaving VCU to replace Rick Barnes at Texas over the weekend.
