VCU announced on Tuesday that they will hire former assistant coach Will Wade to replace Shaka Smart.

A press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Wade was with the Ram program from 2009-13, when he took over the Chattanooga program, where he led the Mocs to a pair of winning seasons. They went 22-10 in 2014-15, finishing 15-3 in SoCon play.

Wade, who is just 32 years old, was a member of Smart’s staff for four postseason¬†appearances, including the 2011 Final Four run. Smart announced that he would be leaving VCU to replace Rick Barnes at Texas over the weekend.
