It appears Georgetown guard D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera is having second thoughts a week after declaring for the 2015 NBA Draft.

According to Brian Snow of Scout.com, Smith-Rivera has decided to return to Georgetown for his senior season. Smith-Rivera had announced he would forgo his senior year on March 31, but was projected to go undrafted by DraftExpress.com and was not listed in Chad Ford’s top 100 on ESPN.

Smith-Rivera was one of seven players named to the Big East first team this past season, averaging 16.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game for the Hoyas.

Having the 6-foot-3 guard back is important for John Thompson III’s program. Georgetown graduates Josh Smith, Mikael Hopkins, Jabril Trawick and Aaron Bowen. Georgetown will be relying on the promising freshman class of Isaac Copeland, L.J. Peak, Paul White and Tre Campbell. The return of Smith-Rivera provides leadership and a go-to scoring option for the underclassmen all stepping into bigger roles.

Georgetown finished second in the Big East standings last season, and with Smith-Rivera -- surround by those four sophomores -- the Hoyas will likely be pegged for another top-3 finish at the start of next season.
