Virginia announced on Friday that freshman guard B.J. Stith is leaving the program and intends to transfer. A former four-star guard in the Class of 2014, Stith barely saw the floor for the Cavaliers during the 2014-15 season, as he played in 13 games and averaged 1.0 points and 0.6 rebounds per contest.

“It is with great sadness that I’m leaving the University of Virginia,” Stith said in the release. “I want to thank Coach Bennett, the entire basketball staff, my teammates and Cavalier Nation for allowing me to realize my life-long dream. The love I received from everyone associated with Virginia Basketball was overwhelming. I will forever be grateful for the support. However, I know in my heart that my steps have been ordered.”

According to a report from Dave Fairbank of the Daily Press, Stith plans on transferring to Old Dominion, where he will re-unite with his dad and brother.

Stith’s father, Bryant Stith, is an assistant coach for the Monarchs while his older brother, Brandon Stith, transferred into Old Dominion last season after spending his freshman season at East Carolina.

Brandon Stith sat out this season and has three years of eligibility remaining while B.J. Stith will have to sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer regulations. B.J. Stith will have three years of eligibility after sitting out and the Stith brothers will have two years to play together if they stay through the duration of their careers at Old Dominion.
