Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin has missed the majority of this season as he works to recover from an arterial dissection in his brain.

He’s not allowed to coach, to go to games or to do anything that would get his blood pressure or heart rate up. He is allowed to watch the games, however, and on Thursday, when Cincinnati won a thriller in overtime over Purdue, Cronin watched from the team’s hotel in Louisville.

But the No. 8 seed Bearcats, win or lose, are leaving Louisville tonight, meaning they’ve already checked out of their hotel.

So where is Cronin watching today’s game against No. 1 seed Kentucky?

By himself in Rick Pitino’s office at the Yum! Center, he told the Cincinnati Enquirer. That’s good news, though. It means that he’s traveling with the team, which in turn means that he’s getting closer to returning to the sidelines.

“I’m close,’' Cronin told the paper on Friday. “I’ve got some more tests and knock on wood, God willing, I’ll pass them.’'

“My health has been diagnosed as decidedly better and I’ve just got more practice with them.”
