The Atlantic 10 second round kicked off of Thursday as La Salle took care of UMass and VCU escaped with a win over Fordham.
Khalid Lewis made a key 3-pointer with 1:28 left and Jordan Price had 28 points to take the Explorers to the quarterfinals. La Salle was swept by UMass during the regular season but avenged both losses by advancing to face No. 1 seed Davidson in the quarterfinals.
VCU only shot 30 percent from the field but were able to get past Fordham thanks in-part to 20 offensive rebounds. Eight of those offensive boards came from Treveon Graham, who had 22 points and nine rebounds overall. The No. 5 seed Rams now advance to face crosstown rival Richmond, who swept them in the regular season.
