Illinois-Chicago announced on Monday that head coach Howard Moore will not be returning to the Flames next season.

“I want to thank Howard Moore for his five years of commitment to UIC Athletics,” said AD Jim Schmidt. “We have high expectations and aspire to be at the top of the Horizon League and we have not met our competitive goals. We have dedicated and talented student-athletes in the basketball program who are committed and make us optimistic for the future. I wish Howard the very best of luck going forward.”

Moore was 49-111 overall and 17-67 in the Horizon League in his five years in Chicago. The Flames were 10-24 this past season.

“I would like to thank the UIC [administration] for giving us the opportunity to coach in the greatest city in the world,” Moore posted on twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

Moore is a former Wisconsin assistant coach, notorious for being the recruiter that brought Frank Kaminsky to Madison.
