Philly U is known for being the home of Hall of Famer Herb Magee. The longtime men’s basketball coach has 1,000 (and counting) career victories at the Division II program.

But on Friday evening, it was the women’s basketball team that was grabbing attention. The score was tied, 71-71, with 0.9 seconds remaining in regulation in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament championship. The Rams had the ball at half-court and inbonded the ball to junior forward Mary Newell, who took one dribble and heaved a shot from 40-feet out for the 74-71 win.

It was Newell’s first career 3-pointer, according to the university.
