Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle doesn’t have any seniors on his roster, which made it tough for him to figure out what to do on Senior Night this season.

So instead he honored the program’s five walk-ons, four of whom made the team during open tryouts in October, by starting them in the Beavers’ final regular season game.

Should I mention that it was their Civil War rivalry game against Oregon?

“Some people might call me crazy and maybe I am,” Tinkle said, “but it was something our guys deserved.”

Tinkle started three freshman -- Dylan Livesay, Tanner Sanders and Matt Dahlen -- as well as sophomore A.J. Hedgecock and junior Justin Stangel.

“I was thinking about having no seniors to celebrate what would normally be “Senior Night” and I wanted to honor something for this team,” Tinkle told ESPN.com in a text message. “It hit me right away: Honor the walk-ons from Oregon that have been such a big part of our season.

The Beavers ended up losing to the Ducks, 65-62. The two teams will face off in the Pac-12 tournament next week in Las Vegas.
