Maryland freshman big man Michal Cekovsky missed the team’s win over Michigan on Saturday after injuring his knee in warmups. According to Daniel Martin of CSNBaltimore.com, Cekovsky injured his left knee and went back into the locker room before the game.

The 7-foot freshman later joined his teammates on the bench with a bag of ice on his left knee. After the game, Martin reported that Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon said Cekovsky would have an MRI on the knee scheduled and more would be known in a few days.

A native of Slovakia, Cekovsky has appeared in 26 games this season for Maryland, as he plays 13 minutes per contest. Cekovsky is only averaging 2.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game and his defense is ahead of his offense at this point. The freshman provided 24 quality minutes in a recent Terrapin win over Wisconsin and can give some crucial bench minutes in important games.
