Elite five-star Class of 2016 shooting guard cuts his list to seven

battle

(USA Basketball)

Tyus Battle will be one of the most coveted players in a very good Class of 2016 and the junior cut his list to seven schools on Monday. According to Alex Kline, Battle cut his list to Duke, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Syracuse and UConn.

Regarded as the No. 14 overall player in the 2016 class, according to Rivals, the 6-foot-5 native of New Jersey played for USA Basketball’s gold medal-winning U17 team last summer in the World Championships and is versatile as an offensive threat.

Battle can do damage either with the ball in his hands, or as a wing, and he has a lot of ways he can operate. Playing with Team Final in the Nike EYBL last spring and summer he averaged 10.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. But Battle ended the July live evaluation period in strong fashion, going for double-figure point totals in his last four games at the Nike Peach Jam and looking really good on the grassroots circuit’s biggest state.

As far as the recruiting process, Battle has taken unofficial visits to every school on his list except for Notre Dame. According to Evan Daniels of Scout.com, Tyus would like to take official visits to Louisville and Duke this spring, according to Battle’s father, Gary.

Notably missing from Battle’s list is Kentucky, who received an unofficial visit and also visited Battle in his native New Jersey during the recruiting process. It’s not often that the Wildcats miss out on a list, but Battle is obviously looking for other things.
