The basketball rivalry between UConn and Syracuse is dormant but the Huskies still trolled the Orange on Twitter

In case you haven’t noticed, defending champion UConn is having a sluggish title defense as they’re 14-10 and fighting just to make a run at a postseason bid. But the Huskies still had time to have some fun with former Big East rival Syracuse on Twitter on Tuesday. Now in the ACC, the Orange and UConn don’t get to play basketball nearly as often anymore.

They’re still major rivals though.

UConn fired the first shot on Twitter using a fake “Motivation” poster:

Syracuse retaliated by keeping it simple and showing off its school spirit:

Then the Huskies went for the kill, striking the final shot in the back-and-forth with a photo of their two latest national championship trophies from 2014:

No word back from Syracuse in the battle on social media, but I think college basketball fans would love to see these teams matchup on the floor again sometime soon. If this leads to more basketball between these two storied programs, I’m all for it.
