Butler is on the board in the 2017 class, a source confirmed to NBCSports.com. The Bulldogs landed a commitment from North Carolina native and 6-foot-6 forward David Caraher on Tuesday night.

The native of Chapel Hill is a tough and skilled forward and gives the Bulldogs a young wing commitment. Butler doesn’t have any previous commitments in the 2017 or 2016 class. The 2015 class Butler currently has committed includes Ohio native and center Nate Fowler and Indiana native and shooting guard Sean McDermott.

Even more important than the 2017 commitment though is that Butler is maintaining success on the recruiting trail under new head coach Chris Holtmann. If the former interim coach can continue to land talented players who can help him win games, Holtmann will be a great hire through the life of his contract.
