American Athletic Conference members UCF and Houston have met twice this season, and in both games a UCF guard has made the winning play.

Sunday afternoon, freshman guard B.J. Taylor’s off-balance basket with 2.7 seconds remaining gave the Knights the 56-54 win. Taylor finished Sunday’s game with just five points, and his second made field goal of the day proved to be the most important one for Donnie Jones’ team.

In the first meeting, a 79-78 UCF overtime victory in Houston January 6, guard Brandon Goodwin scored the Knights’ final 13 points and hit buzzer-beating three-pointers to both force overtime and win the game.
