With guard Jimmy Whitt having signed a National Letter of Intent during November’s early signing period, Arkansas entered Thursday with one player committed to joining the program next season. That number has increased to two, with four-star power forward Ted Kapita verbally committing to Mike Anderson’s program.

The news was first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com.

The 6-foot-9 Kapita currently attends Huntington Prep, which is the school that current Arkansas sophomore big man Moses Kingsley attended. And with sophomore Bobby Portis ranked 21st on DraftExpress.com’s list of the Top 100 NBA prospects, adding another big man is certainly a positive for the Razorbacks.

“Ted Kapita is a great pickup for Arkansas,” NBCSports.com recruiting analyst Scott Phillips said. “He provides another talented and athletic big man who can either back up or replace Bobby Portis next season. As long as his motor is running, he’s a talented prospect.”

In addition to Kingsley and Portis the Razorbacks currently have freshman Trey Thompson in the post, with Thompson playing sparingly in his first season as a member of the program. Kapita, who took official visits to Arkansas, Missouri and Memphis, is ranked 37th in the Class of 2015 by Rivals.
