Pregame Shootaround: Will we get some clarity in the Big 12 tonight?

Oklahoma State v Kansas State

Oklahoma State v Kansas State

Peter G. Aiken

Game of the Night: No. 14 Iowa State at No. 17 Oklahoma, 9:00 p.m.

The Other Game of the Night: No. 21 Oklahoma State at No. 16 Baylor, 7:00 p.m.

We’ve pretty much reached the point of the season where Kansas has been accepted as the best team in the Big 12. There’s no guarantee that they will win the conference regular season title -- they’re only a game up on the field -- but at this point it’s pretty safe to call the Jayhawks the favorite.

But who is the second-best team in the league? And who has the best chance of ending Bill Self’s reign of terror over the conference? Iowa State is just a game back of Kansas. Oklahoma and Baylor are just two games back. Oklahoma State? They’re three games back but coming off of a win over Kansas on Saturday. One of these four teams will finish in second place in the Big 12 race this year, and after tonight we may have a better understanding of who that is.

Three Things to Watch For

1. No. 4 Duke at Florida State, 7:00 p.m.: The Blue Devils are playing as well as anyone in the country right now, having won at Virginia and blown out Notre Dame in the last 10 days.

2. Stephen F. Austin at Northwestern State, 7:00 p.m.: SFA is one of the best mid-major programs in the country. Northwestern State has one of the best mid-major players -- Jalan West -- and plays as fast and as high-scoring as anyone. This will be a fun game.

3. Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech, 9:00 p.m.: Technical school pride is on the line in the ACC tonight.
