Michigan State freshman guard Javon Bess could miss the rest of the season, head coach Tom Izzo said on Monday. According to a report from Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press, Izzo said that the 6-foot-5 Bess is experiencing pain in his previously broken right foot.

Bess missed games early in the season but returned to be a reserve in 12 games this season, averaging 12.3 minutes per game and shooting 47 percent from the field and averaging 2.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Izzo continued that Bess would be out for at least two weeks. With Bess experiencing issues with a foot he has already injured, rest is probably the best move for him and it looks like he could be of little use to the Spartans attempting to make a NCAA Tournament run.

Although Michigan State will go for a medical redshirt, Bess might have already played in too many games for that to have happened and he might just have a lost freshman season that was swallowed up by injury. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Bess was a three-star prospect coming out of high school.
