Let’s start with the highlight: Memphis fell to 6-4 in the American thanks to this last-second jumper from Temple’s Josh Brown:
The Owls improved to 8-3 in the league with the win, and while they are still three games behind Tulsa for first place in the conference, they’re now just a game out of second place.
The news is worse for the Tigers, who couldn’t afford another loss at home let alone losing their star center, Austin Nichols, to an ankle injury. He’s expected to be out for two weeks, head coach Josh Pastner told reporters after the game, but those are two weeks that Memphis cannot afford to be without him.
Nichols was on crutches after the game.
Here’s the injury:
Nichols is averaging 13.2 points, 6.0 board and 3.2 blocks, all team-highs.
