After bouncing back from a six-game losing streak by sweeping their road trip to Washington last weekend, California was at risk of squandering that progress Thursday night against USC. After Jordan McLaughlin missed the second of two free throws with 4.9 seconds remaining, Cal’s David Kravish grabbed the rebound and passed the ball to junior guard Tyrone Wallace.

From there Wallace took two dribbles and released a three-pointer just before time expired. Despite being challenged by two defenders the shot rattled home, giving the Golden Bears the 70-69 victory. This is the second straight game in which Cal’s needed a three-pointer in the final seconds to win a game, with Sam Singer hitting a three with four seconds remaining to beat Washington on Sunday.
