It’s been a tough 2014-15 season for Creighton as the Bluejays have battled slow starts, inconsistent perimeter shooting and injuries. Isaiah Zierden is already out for the season with a torn ACL, but Creighton is facing even more issues with injury and illness recently as three players are battling some sort of ailment.

According to a report from Steven Pivovar of the Omaha World-Herald, senior guard Austin Chatman missed Monday’s practice with a foot injury while junior guard James Milliken was held out because of the flu.

Chatman wore a walking boot and visited the doctor on Monday and X-rays and an MRI revealed no tears or fractures. It’s unclear if Chatman or Milliken will be available for the Bluejays during Wednesday night’s Big East game at Xavier.

A near return won’t be happening for forward Leon Gilmore. Creighton head coach Greg McDermott told Pivovar that the 6-foot-7 freshman will likely undergo surgery later this week to repair a meniscus problem. Gilmore is expected to miss two-to-six weeks depending on what doctors find and repair during the surgery.

While the Bluejays have dropped 10 of their last 11 games, it’s still tough to lose so many bodies during practice at this point in the season. Creighton has been experimenting with unique lineups to try to find a spark and losing players during conference play won’t help in that equation.
