Baylor made a nice gesture for two of its walk-ons this week as the school and head coach Scott Drew awarded scholarships to two juniors for the spring semester.

Guard Austin Mills and forward John Heard are the walk-ons receiving full rides for their contributions to the men’s basketball program. Besides being valuable members of the scout team in practice, Heard and Mills have both seen game action this season.

The 6-foot Mills has appeared in eight games and is averaging 1.5 points and 1.5 assists per contest while the 6-foot-5 Heard has appeared in four games and played nine total minutes, knocking down a 3-pointer in the Bears’ season-opening win over McNeese State.

It’s always nice to see these videos because of the sheer happiness on display. Not only are the walk-ons excited for their accomplishment, but their teammates and coaches are ecstatic for them as well.
