With No. 16 VCU being the lone undefeated team in the Atlantic 10, George Washington couldn’t avoid a slip-up at Rose Hill Gym with their first game against the Rams scheduled for Tuesday night in Richmond. Mike Lonergan’s team took care of business in the Bronx, beating Tom Pecora’s Rams 79-59 with five players scoring in double figures.

John Kopriva led the way offensively for the Colonials, scoring a season-high 19 points on 7-for-7 shooting from the field. George Washington shot over 56 percent from the field, and on the other end they limited the Rams to 36.1% shooting from the field and 5-for-19 from three. Eric Paschall led the way for Fordham with 17 points and Mandell Thomas added 15 for a team that’s now 0-6 in the Atlantic 10.

Georg Washington, which moves to 5-1 in conference play with the win, hosts Duquesne Saturday before making the trek to Richmond to take on VCU next Tuesday.
