SMU guard Keith Frazier will miss the rest of the season due to an academic issue, sources told NBCSports.com. The decision was made a week ago, but Frazier was allowed to play as the school has tried to win a last-minute appeal to keep him eligible.

Sources have also confirmed that the NCAA is looking into the situation.

Frazier is the third member of the program that SMU has lost in the last week. Last Friday, the program announced that Justin Martin had decided to leave school and turn pro. Earlier this week, Ulric Maligi, the assistant coach that recruited Frazier and Emmanuel Mudiay to SMU, took leave from the program.

Frazier, a sophomore, was averaging 10.5 points this season. He played 31 minutes in a win at Temple on Wednesday.

SMU’s next game is against East Carolina on Saturday.
