Boston College senior guard Lonnie Jackson will miss the rest of the 2014-15 season with a lower leg injury, head coach Jim Christian announced in a release on Monday.

The 6-foot-4 Jackson played in three games for the Eagles this season and didn’t register a point in 26 minutes of action. The California native made his season debut on Dec. 14 against Binghamton, and played in Boston College’s two games that followed, but sat out the Eagles’ ACC opener against Duke over the weekend.

Jackson has made 56 career starts at Boston College and averaged at least 23 minutes per game in all three of his seasons at the school, so his loss means that the Eagles are losing a battle-tested guard as they enter ACC conference play. A career 38 percent three-point shooter, Jackson could have also given Boston College another option to stretch the floor.

The Eagles are currently 7-5 (0-1) in Christian’s first season as head coach.
